OK, I know this is probably a where do you get it question but hope to get a broader audience.... :o

A mate, who was a forum member (Lapsed password) is in a hurry to find an original wooden tray to go on an original resto of an O series (194???) Bedford.

It is a sort of Birthday project and the useby date is fast approaching. :(

Most desirable location is Central Victoria...
If anyone has one, or knows where one might lurk, could you please post on here or send me a PM.

Its seems to me that there are only rivet counters and Bedford owners on here. &. some are both ;D :D ;) :)

Thanks.

Might be better to build one, trouble is he then needs a knackered one to get the fittings off.

Thanks Gentlemen,
my O which is still in my shed has a useable all timber tray (it go's with my truck to its new home) for copying etc, My mate had made me an offer but a deal was already done (free to family). Mate was hoping another old girl was parked up in enough shelter for the tray to have survived.

The search continues :o

The K and M models (in Aus) had Holden made trays which had a lot of steel in them and weren't as pretty as the more traditional style. Being heavier (5 ton load) I am not sure if the O models had a similar tray or something quite different.

Mammoth,
My O has a tray by "Cheney" all timber with a steel coaming, as well as timber gravel sides.

I assume the Cheney mob are the same ones who became Patterson Cheney Holden dealers.

Sarge, I'm going to be in the same boat with my "K" model as well. Have enough of the timber left to use as patterns, but the steel combing was beyond repair. I'm interested in Mammoth's comment regarding the "Traditional Style" which I assume he means a Timber Combing & side boards.?
Mammoth, could you elaborate on this & advise where details can be sort?
Apologies Sarge for jumping into your post.
Cheers Pierre

If you have to start from scratch:
This is a copy of the original on a 1927 Chev Four truck with a new top coaming plate and rope rail.
Pretty standard in WA until steel bodies came.
Our L 160 Inters had the same design except cross members were not cut away in centre section and ends were narrowed with a straight cut, the runners along chassis had no cut outs.
Each cross member was clamped to chassis with long U bolts at 45 degrees let in flush at top to plates below chassis.
Cheers, David.

Sarge/David, thanks for these photos & the detail, this is valuable info for a rebuild frame. Interesting International carried a version of this style into the early 50's!
I assume the wooden combing would handle the bolts for the sideboard brackets.
Cheers again Pierre
