Hi all, it's been a while.
About 6 months ago, the oil filter canister on my C1200 started leaking. If you've had a leaking one, you know I'm not talking some drips here and there, it really starts pouring out around the lip.
Tried new seals, gasket sealant, all sorts with varying and usually temporary success. Currently it seems ok, but I have to check every time I start it to make sure, which is getting wearisome.
I was talking on FB today and someone mentioned they used a spin on filter on their 281. Is there an adaptor you can buy? Or was this factory for late ones (maybe D lines?)
One of those would be very helpful.

gudday m8
in the filter box is there 2 types of gasket/seals
the rubber type U can easily over tighten n cause a leak
if U use the thik cardboard type U can't over tighten to cause a leak
think n the rubber one is narrow and easyto mis align where by the cardboard is wider

2 possibilities here. The one on my Inter leaked like a sieve. The housing was bent.It wasn't the only bent one I had!
I found a straight one and all OK, although it is still tricky.
I had D1110 previously with a Z74 (I think?). It was factory.
They are about, but not easy to find.
Jarrod.

I'm thinking mine may be a little askew, although it actually just started one random day, I hadn't touched the canister for months.
Alas Swishy, the Ryco filters come with two rubber rings, no cardboard at all.
I'd be interested in finding a late D line one and taking the filter unit off it, if it's a straight swap.

After Easter, i'd suggest having a look on ebay to see if "Waggatractor" list a spin on filter head conversion. I just tried to have a look now, but see he is away until after the 5th, and has pulled his listings while away.
Great bloke to deal with, i have bought from him quite a few times.

If it was a Dodge I would suggest the oil pressure regulator bypass doohikie is stuck shut and this causes full pressure to pump thru the filter and the buggers leak like theres no o ring at all
Quite often you can just turn them off and start them again (might have to do this a few times) and the regulator opens up all is good till next time
Only seems to happen if they have been sitting for a while
Is this motor a full flow filter or a bypass filter ?

The filter mount on an IH281 isnt too solid, and its easy to distort the ally head so the O ring doesnt seal all round......the spin on mounts IIRC used be less than $10 from IH-now IVECO-and id try them first ....they still have a surprising range of old IH petrol spares.........unfortunately my D Line parts book is pre spin on ,so no part no.
