These are Victorian Railways official photos, now in PROV archives. One photo is captioned c1942; the other is captioned Nov.1943.
Trove doesn't have an article on the event, and I don't have copies of VR News Letter for those years.
In hunting, I found other such presentations in other states, and most/all were Fords. I suspect that the company was generous: either donating, or offering a reduced price.
VPRS 12800P0001, H4826-MOBILE CANTEEN TRUCK FOR SALVATION ARMY, NEWPORT WORKSHOPS. NOV.1943
VPRS 12903P0001, 39101A-FORD VAN FOR SALVATION ARMY AND DEDICATION DAY AT NEWPORT WORKSHOPS~1942
'Presented by the Newport Workshops & Aircraft Auxiliary of the VR Patriotic Fund'.
I guess that the bodies were built by workshops craftsmen, possibly as volunteers after hours.
I can't tell the difference between 1942 and 1943 models, and there is no guarantee that Australia matched USA precisely.

Since all were Wartime trucks, I doubt if there are any differences.. You had to be very well connected to get a civilian model..
