Hino 1322 4x4 was created by projectinter
Hi,
I’m looking at buying a 2006 Hino 1322 4x4.
Has anyone had much to do with these?
Anything to look out for etc? What are their on road manners like? Sit on 100 ok?
Thanks

Used to drive regularly a 2005 Isuzu FTS 4 x 4 water cart, assume would be very close specs to Hino. Was no trouble cruising at 100ks, did lots of trips up and down Putty Rd, was a great truck.

Ended up buying the truck. Pretty happy with it!
Only downside is no overdrive so it’s a bit slow on the open road. Not sure if another Hino OD gearbox fits but it’s not a big deal being a bit slow.
Thanks

Having an overdrive would help with fuel economy. Be nice if one can be adapted for you.

Yeah it would be very handy. Hinos with the same cab and engine but 2x4 have an Overdrive so you’d think so. Then again with electronics and ecu etc who knows

Yep it sounds as if it would need to be a package deal with the electronics.

Had an O/D fitted from a 2x4 truck.
Exact same box but overdrive and was a straight swap. Very glad I did this!
Don’t know why the truck came without an OD.

Glad you now have OD and was a straight swap. Even our old FC144 has OD but I don't know who work out the ratios. Not that I do it but full throttle in 4th is around 68 kph then into 5th and Lorry is happy to sit on 100 kph along the flats and some hills but get one that is a bit steeper and you have to wait until you loose momentum and be under 65kph before pulling back to 4th, it is a crazy set up. Yet 1st gear will climb a pole at any rev.

With the 4x4 the gear ratios at 5.48 1:1 6th gear was about 2500 at 85-90. Now 100 is 2200.
First gear was so low you didn’t even need low ratio.
Thanks for the advice Cobbadog.

Went to put truck in the shed today but the exhaust is about 200mm too high. I took off the exhaust to get it in and sort the exhaust.
The exhaust has a 45 to the back of the truck.
Going to cut it down 200mm but it won’t have the 45 on the end. Will rain cause any dramas with the exhaust cut square instead?
