Seen this one around a couple of times, has a Perkins P6 in it

Found this diagram on them, think they are made in Hungary

You would think that would have be underpowered as the the P6 Perkins was only capable of 44 drawbar horsepower in a Massey Harris 744

With the motor hanging over the front and the amount of gears in the gear box, I would say slow but impressive.

The Field Marshal next to it would pull well for it size, Dad had 3 of those and two of the tracked version.

Yep Cobba. The P6 in the 744d gives a very good demonstration of what 'torque rise' is. ie it doesn't have any and just dies when asked to put it's shoulder to the wheel. I think the automotive version may have been better.

Does the Dutra have any suspension or articulation?

I couldn't see any in the line drawing and wonder how it went.

Bloody ugly thing.

There are some good videos of them on Youtube.  It appears that the front axle oscillates.

The automotive P6 Perkins had aluminium pistons and the industrial version as used in Fordsons had cast iron pistons

I have had one and found it to be the biggest piece of junk diesel ever made

However I have since learnt that the timing of the injector pump is chain driven and keeping this adjusted and the timing spot is critical to making them start any good

To me they are crap and wouldn't even make a good boat anchor

Unlike the 6354 Perkins, the are fabulous motors
