I know we have some experienced painters here, so as I am getting close to painting the ansaldo while I have the engine out and planning to use Protec 363 with 369 isocyanate hardener, I need some advice.

What type of respirator do you experienced painters use. I guess the air supply ones are best. The last time I sprayed 2 pack, about 10 years ago, I experienced some skin sensitivity, so want to be careful.

I do have a couple of other vehicles to spray over the next 12 months.

This is the type that Ross used to spray the 27

Slo speed, that's the same as I use .Paul use a nylon spray suit plus a barrier cream on your face and arms and wear latex gloves, that should minimise some the risk of poisioning, the eyes absorb some of isocynate and solvents which is why a airfed hood is recommended.make sure you have plenty of ventilation while painting. steve

Ross also uses the Tyvek throw away coveralls and gloves as well.

He said if you use a hood you also need to make sure you have the full filter system as its not just a case of plugging in an normal air line.

Slospeed is correct, the Sundstrom mask is good.
Good filters in that kit too, cheap price as i usually see them over $100.
Full air hood is best but not always suited to different jobs.
Tyvek overalls at about $12-15 and some latex gloves saves the skin and makes cleanup easier.

when i got my mask from the paint shop, the bloke said to keep it in the box as the filter will absorb form the atmosphere chemicals etc, just to preserve the chemical filter, Good brand. I paid $80 bout 4 years a go, really good for when i painted mine.

Yep defiantly leave it in the box when not using it. I think we picked the one up for about $90 mark so this is a good price.
