IH bus ID was created by rusty55desoto
Hi all,
have been lurking your forum for a while now and thought I should do the righty and register, I have a bit of an odd collection of vehicles including a 77 unimog 55 desoto and a 71 crew cab vw, so now I have the intro out of the way, I have been given if I want it an inter bus of unknown year, the front and rear are fibreglass and in good cond but the rest is toast, chassis rear has been cut out to make a farm utensil but essentially enough is there to use for patterns, I cant remember the manufacturer but it was in victoria, the bus is 160kms away from where i live so I cant just go look, well not this week, anyways any help would be appreciated,
cheers Russ...

Welcome Rusty. Looks like a challenging restoration! Buses aren't my thing but plenty on this forum with an interest who may be able to provide some info.

Hmmm. Case stickers on the Unimog. I had Unimogs as spreaders. Was that one a spreader in another life? They were a little underpowered. 170hp with a turbo. Great gears, 8 forward & 8 reverse. Mainly did topdressing of fields, golf courses & ovals with them.

yeah they were sold as a case MB4/94 in the US and also as a Frieghtliner to the army as a SEE, thats where my axles came from,
NOS rear complete down to handbrake cables for $1500,
cab was ex US from a guy I know over in NewYork State who wrecks and rebuilds Mogs,
its a moneypit but saved from the dead, paid 4k for it and it was 50kms from my house, whats the chances

Thats interesting. Independant components in SA wreck a few Mogs as well. They do a fair bit of Benz stuff. Have you seen some of the Unimog club stuff on Utube. There are some fanatics out there.
