Can you put up a picture of it, so we know what we are dealing with. Or supply a chassis number??

hey all been doing some work on the mack. Had an exhaust leak between inlet and exhaust manifold, i call it the hot box found it was missing a bolt. So started pulling it down to do what i thought an easy fix new gasket new bolt but nothing is ever easy when puling off hot box where it mounts to the inlet manifolds the bottom mounting face on both sides where fully cracked off. I believe i have no chance of finding any to replace if anyone knows of any let me know. I have repaired them the best i could for now. Once i found the cracked chunks of cast i then remembered the whistling noise while it was idling so makes sense the big miss off idle.
still have to clean up faces on the hot box.
They have had a few repairs in there time.
Always checking out the forum so i think i need to do a lil posting aswell.

hey guys, after some advice on using the pump. I have a manual for the truck, going through the part for the operation for the pump i understand how to use the pump engage levers etc. The only part its not clear about is what gear to have the truck gear box in to drive the prime pump / main pump if i have it in neutral it will free spin i was thinking it should be in a gear with 1.1 ratio or im way out? .

It needs to be in top road gear, IE 5th.

Ask some of the old firies at the station if they still have a "green reader" instruction manual. Operating instructions therein.
