Today's the Day!
Well, the day has finally arrived. We managed to shoehorn most of our stuff into Bertha (pic to come shortly) and will head off this morning. Thanks to onetrack for the encouragement as it's surprising what you can fit in if you work at it!
Taking the journey in easy stages via Esperance, Norseman etc. and then (thanks to oldbob) will try the gentle route through SA to Melbourne.
Will try to get some departure pictures posted soon.
Your messages of encouragement and help have been really appreciated!

Safe travels, Nucky! .. at least, this time of year, you have the wind behind you! Nothing worse than running into headwinds across the long paddock!
Travelling East in Summer, and West in Winter, usually makes your fuel bill go up by 20%!

G'day from Streaky Bay! Apologies for the prolonged silence but Toilstra (you work hard and they get the money) are not up to much as you cross the treeless plain. Thanks for all the good wishes. We have had a good run so far with some minor dramas but we are taking a few easy days around the sa coast before setting Melbourne in our sights. Will go from here to Coffin Bay then on up to Port Augusta. More detail when I don't have to peck this out on the mobile!!

BTW xcuse for butting in here ----if you don`t want to cross the ferry at Waikerie (sorry tourist operators) just keep on going at the Taylorville to Waikerie turn off (to the right).
You can then end up at Berri where you can cross the river (bridge ) to Loxton and on to Melbourne.
Or Mildura and down from there if you wish.
Distance is about the same and it`s mostly flat until you get closer to Melbourne. Either way Horrocks pass at PT Augusta is the only real bit of a hill.
The ferry at waikerie takes B Boubles ok but if you have a long and low van or something you can bottom out on the ramps if your unlucky.
just a tip if you need it. :) :) :).

'course if ya do decide on the Waikerie crossing, there's usually coffee etc in my kitchen, and fairly well equipped shed for repair/service if required ;)

Be it firearms or V8 engines, the question is not "why should you have them?"
, but "who are you to demand that I justify them?"

So Far......
Hello to all from a cold and damp Melbourne with the news that we arrived early this afternoon safe and sound (although the climb out of Bendigo was long and slow) and, thanks to Swishy's immaculate directions, we are here without once becoming geographically embarrassed! We have a couple days in Melbourne before heading over the small water to Tassie so Bertha gets a rest for a while - and well deserved, too... she has been a real champion for us. More info once we are settled with pics etc.
Thanks again to all for your help and good wishes - that really was a boost for us ;)
