Alloys with Retro wheel nuts was created by makeminea2stroke
Hi All
Hoping you might be able to help me agian
I was looking at fitting Alloy wheels with the 32mm stud holes that take the Retro (sleeve) nuts on my bus with stud piloted steel wheels. I have been told you shouldn't use these sort of nuts if you don't have hubs with the raised section or tabs that centre the well (Hub pilot) as the sleeve nuts aren't designed to centre the wheel. Anyone got any thoughts or info?
I am led to believe that Scania used the sleeve nuts on their Alloys and had no hub pilot setup. Anyone confirm?
And whilst we are at it I have 7/8" BSF threaded studs both left and right hand thread anyone know where i might source some Retro (sleeve) nuts?
Thanx in advance
Here is hoping
Glen

Just check with Alcoa or Mullins wheels, you will find that your hubs will have the raised bit to locate the wheel anyway, they might not be as long as the new ones which is why it isn't obvious. If it's a Denning or Austral it will just have Rockwell axles under it.

Hi Bigcam
the drive does have and is wide enough to locate the inner wheel if it is an alloy, but the steer and tag have no raised bit at all. It's an 86 model

I was facing the same issue in regards to the LH and RH retro fit wheel nuts. If you find a spare set, please let me know.
I believe you may be able to source them from the UK or Europe.
Where do you get the Alloys with 32mm stud holes from?
It's not a cheap exercise.
Please help me. I need Commer Parts

hi Camma
Haven't got the wheels yet, but a bunch of us Bus nerds are buying about 100 of them so getting a good deal. If you are after 22.5[ch8243] by 8.25[ch8243] ,335mm PCD with 176 Offset machined or polished, drop me a PM for more info.
Might be able to help with the nuts too, let me know how many long and short in each LH and RH you want
Cheers
