K Model Bedford Radiator was created by Pierre
Hi, having started strip down & refurbishing parts as I go, I've pulled the radiator out, which was leaking mid-way up the core & taken it to a couple of radiator repairers here in Adelaide.
A Replacement core runs anywhere from $900 to $1650 & apparently not a standard size & has to specially made! >
I've emailed Aussie Desert Coolers today as well to see if they have an alloy unit at a competitive price?
The original was made by National Radiators & is stamped '53,which lines up with the truck build date.
Any other "K" owners had to replace theirs & found a satisfactory repairer at a reasonable price?
or
Does anyone know if there is a modern standard radiator that will fit, with some minor mods?
or
Does anyone have a reasonable S/Hand unit for sale.
Help appreciated
cheers Pierre

Can you post a photo of it?
I've got a very good, all most perfect Bedford NJM/SB radiator in the garage.
(or PM me your email address.)

Jon,
The actual core dimensions are 630mm High x 485mm wide x 70mm thick.
As you can see I'll need to retain the bottom tank with access for the crank handle, & the top tank has a screwed filler with a high neck.
I'll check out the Isuzu FTR/FSR cores & see what I can find & as you suggest a good radiator repairer should be able to work the tanks onto the new core if it's about the same size.
thanks for your assistance
cheers

Pierre, Although of cruder construction the old rads were possibly better than what you can get today so I wouldn't rule out a repair. For old time skills these days you need to get out of the metro area and deal with a repairer who is used to farmers bringing in sad cases from all sorts of antiquated machinery.

I agree, from the pictures, it looks pretty good.
I'd be taking it to a specialist radiator place and get them to lift the tanks, clean it, make a new connection and do a little panel beating.
You might get away for a couple of hundred.
An FSR core is 570x640 or so.

Thanks Dave.
I've sweated off the outer support shroud & will cut out the rusted section & replace.
Should be able to find a reasonable core that will take my top & bottom tanks. Then find this elusive "out of town radiator repairman".
Failing that, Is the one in your garage for sale?
cheers Pierre
