Just something different for you all:

About 3 years building this so far and she will be launched October 25th at Edgewater Holiday Park, Port Macquarie. Anybody nearby more than welcome to show up for a look or ride. There will hopefully be about 10 boats there.

She is actually much further along now but I don't have any decent photos as the lights in the workshop destroy the photo quality. She is 18 feet long and sports a mid-mount 320 hp 350 Chev. I lovingly refer to her as "Poser" cause you can't fish off her, can't live on her, can't go into open water, only seats 3 but will look good and go fast. :D

Hi Mate, that looks the goods.
Are you planning on towing anyone around with it?
There is a thread on Tractors and other old stuff on skiboats-
www.hcvc.com.au/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1351313230

Just so we don't upset the pureists I'll move your thread over to the Tractors and other old stuff section.

Now that's a real thing of beauty and I'll bet it will have the sound to match. Well done!

Thanks Guys,
Cam, wasn't sure it would fit in here as it ain't old, but thanks for putting it where it should be. If any of you do turn up make sure you identify yourselves as being forum members so I give you a ride.
Probably sounds silly to you Guys filling up Semi fuel tanks (3000 litres?), but I am not looking forward to adding 125 litres of 98 fuel and only getting 6-7 miles per gallon. Might be an expensive weekend.
The engine is the latest MEFI5 computer controlled doovry so will be easy start and as fuel efficient as a V8 will get I guess. Next one I might build a nicer looking one with chrome and polished doodads.

Beautiful job indeed.
A few on here would suggest 'add hungry boards' and go fishing!! She'd go well with our 4 metre swells........ I could see it launching!!
Each year there's a really big wooden boat show in Hobart..... pity you can't get there with it?

Mate, if a MEF15 is some sort of inboard V8 I think you will be surprised at the economy. Years ago I had a 14' Swiftcraft Stiletto with a 90 V4 Johnno on the back, the boat I replaced it with was a clinker with a 202 Holden motor in it (pic of the boat is the first one in the ski boat thread), the Holden went twice as good and used half the fuel. Even my current boat has a 383 Chev in it which goes really well, and it is pretty good on fuel, I couldn't give you figures other than to say it is cheap to run, 3 outings with 3 of us skiing/wakeboard it would probably burn $50 worth of fuel.
