We used to build our own trucks once
Now we import boat loads of not so squeezy's

I guess they are the modern day Bedford ...."you see them everywhere"

All imports are offloaded at port Kembla nowadays as they have closed the Sydney terminal for redevelopment

This is my new toy

Here are two hirail work trucks, in use for the RRL track-construction project between Melbourne and Sunshine and on to Manor (south-west Werribee). Both are from my prolific contributor Jeff Bounds.

Post edited to take in the helpful reply, and fix a typo. Hirail has become common on railways: it refers to fitting auxiliary wheels to steer a truck on rails; they can be raised to drive back to the depot. This is easier to achieve and cheaper to implement than older techniques, and allows use of off-the-shelf equipment.
