July 26 2016 - WA Today.
Worker killed at Norseman gold mine.
A worker has died at a mine in the state's Goldfields, the Department of Mines and Petroleum has confirmed.
St John Ambulance was called to Central Norseman Gold Mine on Tuesday at 10.50.
The Department of Mines and Petroleum was informed of the death on Tuesday morning. Photo: Bloomberg Ambulance officers took the worker, a man in his 60s, to Norseman District Hospital but he could not be saved.
His injuries were caused by the "collapse of a bridge from the top of a settling tank", safety director Andrew Chaplyn said.
"Two Kalgoorlie-based Mines safety inspectors were on site carrying out a scheduled inspection at the time of the incident and another two inspectors from Perth have been mobilised to investigate," he said.
"The department offers its sincere condolences to the worker's family, friends and co-workers."
