This is the new Mercedes Sahara. I am hard pushed to believe it can climb a 100% grade.
PS. Just found their demo test ramp for PR purposes. Yes it does 45 degrees (empty?) but the ramp has thousands of steel grippy teeth on the tread. It would never do it on any natural surface. The 4 or 6 wheel plus centre diff locks are what do the trick. A standard 4WD even with limited slip would come nowhere near.
Of course the military standard is to be able to stop and start on a concrete surface with a full load. I guess the G-Wagon would come in at about the 60% slope that the Unimog does.

I have my shoulder to the wheel,
my nose to the grindstone,
I've put my best foot forward,
I've put my back into it,
I'm gritting my teeth,
Now I find I can't do any work in this position!

Lang,
Maybe there is an error in translation, such as the "Unbeladen" height.
However, if you buy me one, I will see if it really will drive vertically.

There is one thing about it that I can guarantee is that anywhere in the outback that it can get to, the local lads will already be there in their 25-year-old Falcon.

I would say this pretty true
My good old falcon utes have further than most 4x4 types with zero preparation
been across the Simpson twice in a normal Falcon ute (XF)
Both times from East to West, apparently one way is harder than the other, not sure whitch

You have to laugh at the local lads in their falcons, I was about 500 K's west of Alice on a motor bike and I came across 5 or 6 of them with the Falcon parked over a table drain with the arss end up on a couple of stumps with the back wheels and axles out and the diff sitting on a bit of rag on the side of the road. So, I pulled up to see if they need anything, they said "narr we just about got it" so had a bit of a yarn and carried on, I think they would have been more concerned if the falcon had of been on the hoist at Ford in Crown Street Sydney
